RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11: The worst lip-syncing battles

0

we have to announce the conclusion of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11. After a season filled with drama and excitement, Yvie Oddly emerged as the victorious queen. Her win was well-deserved, as she brought a compelling personal narrative, a refreshingly original approach to drag, and an unapologetic attitude that captivated audiences.

However, the first runner-up, Brooke Lynn Hytes, gave Yvie a fierce competition for the $100,000 prize. Throughout the season, Brooke was the fan favorite, and the final result took many by surprise. The tipping point was the last lip-sync challenge, where Brooke delivered a technically excellent performance. Yet, Yvie clinched the crown by showcasing something entirely unique.

RuPaul’s Drag Race consistently offers moments that are magnificent, scandalous, and fabulous, making viewers want to do a death drop right in their living rooms. However, occasionally, the show delivers the opposite: lip-sync battles so subpar that you might consider giving a death drop to your TV. Yet, as any Drag Race fan would attest, there’s still a certain enjoyment in witnessing a less-than-stellar performance.

Stay tuned for our extensive coverage of Season 11, as we delve into the highlights and memorable moments. Today, we’re taking a moment to acknowledge the least impressive vintage lip-sync-for-your-life battles in the show’s history.

Best Winners of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11

Bebe Zahara Benet:

The inaugural winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Bebe Zahara Benet, deserves recognition for embracing Afro-futurism and showcasing African couture that left a lasting impression. Despite some critiques during her return in All Stars, her groundbreaking win set the bar high for future contestants.

Sharon Needles:

Season four winner Sharon Needles made history with her gothic makeup and punk rock fashion, establishing Drag Race as an inclusive space for all drag styles. Drawing inspiration from Lady Gaga, Needles became a fan favorite with her spooky style and witty, humble personality. Holding the record for the most main challenge wins, she claimed victory in four challenges during her remarkable run.

Violet Chachki:

Violet Chachki entered the competition with a bang, winning her first challenge and avoiding the lip-sync challenge entirely. While her occasional snobbiness caused friction, the judges couldn’t deny her inventive style. Memorable moments include her reversible tartan jumpsuit that left judge Carson Kressley in disbelief.

Sasha Velour: Taking spooky drag to new heights, Sasha Velour became a Drag Race icon in season nine. With a unique style, including a Frida Kahlo monobrow and often performing bald in tribute to her late mother, Velour earned the title of reigning champion and remains one of the best in the Drag Race legacy.

Bob the Drag Queen:

The eighth-season winner, Bob the Drag Queen, not only triumphed with her victory but also claimed the title of the funniest drag name in the show’s history. A natural comedian, Bob’s dry humor and self-aware style garnered three main challenge wins. Her infectious enthusiasm and the memorable story of her arrest during a drag protest added to her charm.

Raja

Initially known for an aloof exterior, Raja quickly became a fan favorite as her arrogant attitude melted away. A makeup artist for America’s Next Top Model, Raja showcased her fashion expertise with stylish and subtle looks. Overcoming controversies like the Heathers clique and tullegate, Raja’s sardonic sense of humor and winning smile make her an enduring Drag Race personality.

Worst Winners of RuPaul’s Drag Race:

  1. Shangela: While opinions may vary, some view Shangela as one of the most annoying queens in Drag Race history. Her loud and obnoxious demeanor, coupled with the repetitive use of her catchphrase “Halleloo,” grated on some viewers. Being the first queen to compete in two seasons and making frequent returns and cameos led to the perception of being an unearned one-trick pony.
  2. Magnolia Crawford: Magnolia Crawford garnered criticism from fellow queens for her disdain toward the Kardashians and her admission that she joined Drag Race solely for exposure. Her most memorable moment was in the first episode when she complained about the materials provided and then received criticism for not using them effectively.
  3. Charlie Hides: As the oldest drag competitor in Drag Race history, Charlie Hides showcased fantastic looks but is often remembered for refusing to compete in the Lip Sync For Your Life, resulting in her elimination. Pre-Drag Race, she faced criticism for performing in blackface as a stereotypical ethnic character.
  4. Mimi Imfurst: Mimi Imfurst, primarily a comedy queen, faced challenges due to her grating humor that irritated fellow contestants. Despite delivering some strong performances and unique comedic looks, her infamous moment came when she decided to pick up her lip-sync rival, India Ferrah, during a performance, leading to her elimination.
  5. Phi Phi O’Hara: Considered the villain of Season 4, Phi Phi O’Hara gained notoriety for her high-strung attitude and attempts to undermine other queens, particularly Sharon Needles. Despite a more positive start in All Stars 2, Phi Phi reverted to villainous tactics, ultimately leading to her elimination.

Each of these queens brought their unique flair to Drag Race, but their controversial actions or personas have left a lasting impact on how they are perceived within the Drag Race fandom.

The TharnType cast: We love MewGulf like crazy

0

Ever wondered about the phenomenon known as MewGulf? If you’re already in the loop, great! But just in case you’re not, MewGulf refers to the captivating duo from TharnType: The Series. Mew Suppasit takes on the role of Tharn, an openly gay university freshman, while Gulf Kanawut portrays Type, a complex and emotionally conflicted freshman who, despite his initial homophobia, ends up sharing a dorm room with Tharn.

In the realm of entertainment, it’s not the norm to pair up actors who play fictional characters. So, why are we focusing on MewGulf instead of TharnType? Well, these two charming individuals from Thailand have been blurring the lines between fiction and reality in a way that’s captured attention.

In Thailand,The TharnType especially within the BL (Boys’ Love) industry, fanservice culture takes on a whole different dimension compared to what’s typical in Western entertainment. It’s not unusual for actors to engage in activities that resemble a real couple’s behavior during fan meets.

Initially, when MewGulf began promoting TharnType: The Series during its initial airing, their promotional fan meets showcased precisely that—couple-like interactions. However, it didn’t take long for a genuine connection between the two to become apparent to everyone.

MewGulf affectionately labels their relationship as a ‘bromance,’ while the fandom leans toward calling it a ‘romance.’ As for us, we’re dubbing it the we-don’t-really-know-mance. Whatever it is, there’s something enchanting about their dynamic that has captivated audiences worldwide.

Join us as we delve into the intricate relationship between Mew Suppasit and Gulf Kanawut.

Thai Entertainment Portal

Guard, guard, guard!

In a recent interview with Thai Entertainment Portal (TEP), Gulf Kanawut expressed his confidence in Mew Suppasit’s protective instincts just three weeks into their acquaintance. The assurance that Mew Suppasit would watch over him on their shared journey was clear, even if it surprised Mew in the interview.

Behind-the-scenes footage from their pre-shooting workshops and onset during filming unmistakably showcased Mew Suppasit taking on the role of Gulf Kanawut’s knight in shining armor.

The TEP interview can be found:

Throughout the TharnType shoot, Mew Suppasit showered constant attention on Gulf Kanawut. Whether it was hugging, lifting, carrying, play-wrestling, grooming, or even sharing impromptu naps on set, Mew Suppasit was always by Gulf Kanawut’s side.

As filming concluded and the duo delved into promotional interviews and fan meet-and-greets, it became evident that Mew Suppasit’s protective and affectionate behavior persisted. Numerous YouTube clips captured Suppasit guiding Kanawut through crowds, ensuring distance from potentially questionable individuals, and prioritizing his public well-being.

This protective stance extended into joint interviews, especially considering Kanawut’s relative newness to the entertainment industry. Initially, Mew Suppasit took the lead in handling intrusive or inappropriate questions, modeling appropriate responses. Now, Kanawut seems more adept at managing such situations independently.

Gulf Kanawut’s growth

While Mew Suppasit willingly took on the role of Gulf Kanawut’s protector, it’s evident that both parties are active participants in this unique dynamic. Gulf Kanawut, in particular, seems to relish in the attention bestowed upon him by Suppasit, and fans frequently comment on his noticeable transformation. From a reserved, polite, and soft-spoken individual, Kanawut has evolved into a more audacious, lively, and joyfully expressive version of himself, much to the delight of admirers.

Early footage on YouTube reveals a significant shift. During fan-service meet-and-greets and interviews, Kanawut, who once followed Suppasit’s lead, has now become more spontaneous. Bantering with Suppasit in front of audiences and reporters has become a common occurrence. In these moments, Kanawut unintentionally shares personal details about their off-screen relationship, earning himself the reputation of a less-than-stellar secret keeper. Viewers eagerly anticipate each on-screen appearance, wondering what Kanawut might inadvertently disclose this time.

In a recent twist in the MewGulf saga, Kanawut has begun openly flirting with Suppasit, steering conversations to gauge Suppasit’s feelings and freely expressing his own. Whether this behavior is genuine or simply fanservice remains uncertain. Despite the duo repeatedly describing their relationship as “brothers who love each other a lot,” their on-camera giggles and antics leave fans bewildered, prompting them to craft their own theories.

However, amidst the confusion about the nature of their relationship, one thing remains clear—Gulf Kanawut has undergone a beautiful personal transformation. Whether their connection is rooted in friendship, a familial bond, or something more, Kanawut’s growth is widely attributed to the love and support introduced into his life by Mew Suppasit. Adding to the charm is Kanawut’s constant blushing, giggling, and endearing baby-like behavior, which emerged in full force in 2020. Fans earnestly plead for this heartwarming relationship to continue flourishing.

MewGulf relationship

One of the most endearing aspects of the MewGulf relationship is the evident and unwavering mutual respect they consistently display toward each other. Even in the midst of fan meets, where they fulfill their fan service commitments, the duo often faces requests from fans to engage in activities that mimic those of a couple.

Fans commonly request Suppasit to lift Kanawut or inquire about the status of their off-screen relationship, prompting activities like cheek-touching, divulging personal information, and various other actions that require the young men to step into each other’s personal space. What sets them apart is their commitment to seeking clear verbal permission from each other before acting on any of these requests. Numerous videos from fan meets capture moments where they explicitly ask for and grant permission.

Moreover, during interviews, both men frequently express the deep respect they hold for each other. This commitment to mutual respect has been evident since the beginning of their journey together. Whether they are together in the same physical space, navigating individual endeavors, or engaging online, their actions consistently align with the genuine respect they profess in their words.

They squabble and bicker like your Mom and Dad

Do you recall that recent incident when the young men, like all people occasionally do, had a misunderstanding? Suppasit took to Twitter and cryptically poured out his feelings, turning the situation into a public spectacle. This Twitter drama prompted their fellow castmates to rally together, attempting to decipher the cause of the rift.

The incident unfolded on Twitter, sending MewGulf detectives within the fandom into a frenzy. The following day, the duo attempted to smooth things over with an Instagram Live session. The video mainly captures them driving through Bangkok in Suppasit’s car, en route to grab some food. The intrigue heightens towards the end when Run Kantheephop Sirorattana, who plays Seo on TharnType: The Series, joins the call and inquires about the previous day’s incident.

What ensues is pure hilarity. Instant squabbling erupts as Suppasit tries to attribute the entire incident to Kanawut, while Kanawut acts oblivious to the issue. They engage in respectful yet playful banter, seemingly forgetting that tens of thousands of people are watching, including their co-star.

This isn’t the only instance of MewGulf bickering like parents, seemingly oblivious to the audience. Numerous interviews on YouTube also showcase this dynamic, always maintaining a respectful and playful tone. Fans have come to appreciate this facet of their relationship.

Despite TharnType: The Series being on hiatus as they await Season 2, the pair continues to attend official events, sharing Instagram photos and Live sessions that provide glimpses into their personal time together. It’s evident that they understand the insatiable appetite the world has for their connection.

So, what is it about this relationship that keeps you hooked? Drop a comment below and share your thoughts!
